The Client

The National Farm Attractions Network (NFAN) unite the farm attraction industry through providing best practice, knowledge and on going support and guidance to over 200 members.

The Challenge

With the impact of COVID, the association wanted to help its members. We agreed that with them all having reduced marketing budgets, we’d create a consumer facing website to promote them all. But we needed results quickly.

We had to agree a name, logo, create a website design, source a WordPress directory plug-in and then build an SEO friendly site all within 90 days. This also included us writing and populating the content – quite a challenge to get our teeth into.

Ranking quickly for Google was also part of the brief.

The Strategy

From design to build and launch, the site was turned around in just 90 days. Our team began working on SEO to improve ranking straight away.

To get SEO results we needed to be seen as the authority on children farm days out. Every attraction had a page listing which enabled us to have individual rich content for 200 farm attractions. Properly SEO’ing these pages, along with creating a blog and obtaining quality back links formed the strategy.

First, we provided a solid foundation to build upon by ensuring ALT tags on images, SEO friendly URLs and relevant H1 and H2 references we used throughout the website. We also optimised the site by using the SEO Press plug in, ensuring all pages obtained the ‘green’ pass mark.

Next, using recognised industry SEO tools, we identified over 200 relevant keywords and set up dashboards to track them weekly and monitor results.

This research allowed us to craft and published weekly informative blogs linking internally to site pages helping us to quickly climb up the rankings. We were pleased with the results, ranking for 3 of the top volume keywords on the first page just after 90 days. Plus after 8 months, we have now increased this to over 50 first page keywords and over 600 top 10 page rankings.

Finally, providing members with an ‘as featured on’ badge to add their website footer by launching an email campaign, encouraged high quality back links driving up the domain authority score to 27.
